After 5 weeks of planning, emails, letters to companies, support from friends new and old and my family we did it. The horn on the Fire Brigade engine sounded and the first group of waddlers were off with a 6ft tall duck, to raise money for The Meningitis Trust around North Camp Village.
The idea was, under 5's dressed up in duck masks etc and 'waddled', walked to you and I, around the Village having been sponsored by their friends and family. An annual event run for The Meningitis Trust and celebrating it's 10th Anniverary.
With the addition of a raffle, bouncy Castle, cake sale, refreshments and support from The Blue Watch guys at Hampshire Fire Brigade, Garrison FM Radio and The Mayor we raised a proud total of £1500.00.
I would like to say a huge thank you for the help and support of my family, friends new and old and all the waddlers for making it a day to remember that is still fresh in peoples minds and for which I am very proud to have organised.
I am very much looking forward to next years event and trust I can count on their support to raise even more money and awareness. |
