Rushmoor Borough Council needs you!
Residents who would like to shape the services on offer in Aldershot and Farnborough are being invited to join the Rushmoor Citizens’ Panel by Rushmoor Borough Council.
The Rushmoor Citizens’ Panel is already made up of around 1,700 residents who have volunteered to help the Council with consultation. Everyone is welcome and the council is looking for new members from across Rushmoor representing all age groups and backgrounds and would particularly like to hear from young families and members of Rushmoor’s Nepalese community, who are currently under-represented on the panel.
Every year, members receive surveys, asking for their views on a variety of topics including council services and developments in Aldershot and Farnborough. The council is also looking to communicate with residents through online surveys and e-forums.
The council also occasionally run focus groups and invite members of the Citizens’ Panel to join in. Recently members of the panel took part in the council’s consultation on the future of Farnborough Airport and a household survey asking for their views on some of the council’s key services. They are also being invited to take part in workshops as part of consultation on the Rushmoor Plan – the council’s vision for the Borough over the next twenty years.
Karen Edwards, Head of Strategy and Communications at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “We would like to hear from residents with an interest in the area, who would like to have a say about council services and how we run things.”
Karen added: “By becoming a member of the citizens’ panel you can really make a difference. Back in 2007, the panel played a major part in the council’s decision not to go ahead with alternate weekly rubbish collections and the views of our residents were invaluable.”
An online application form is available at www.rushmoor.gov.uk/citizenspanel or by calling Rachael Measey at Rushmoor Borough Council on 01252 398 808.
