North Camp Regeneration Strategy and
Action Plan 2005 - 2007
Plans to improve North Camp through
a programme of regeneration were approved by Rushmoor's Cabinet
on May 31st 2005.
The strategy (Downloadable
here), which has been produced by Rushmoor Borough Council
was approved at Cabinet on May 31st 2005. It reflects and builds
upon the principles agreed by the local community and key stakeholders
during workshops held between 2000 and 2002. It updates the original
Action Plan published in 2002 and takes on board new opportunities
and issues for the area.
The strategy sets a vision for North Camp of ‘North
Camp is becoming a busy, vibrant and attractive area that impresses
visitors and makes good provision for those who live, work and
socialise there’. This will be achieved by implementing projects
to improve the positive characteristics of North Camp and by developing
community involvement and ownership in the area.
The shopping centre of North Camp provides a natural
focus for regeneration and continues to be the driving force for
change. Regeneration of the whole neighbourhood is important to
achieve lasting improvements. In addition to the development of
a vibrant economic centre, the strategy aims to bring about improvements
to the local environment, to build a strong sense of community
and to improve local pedestrian and transport routes. |
