Carnival fun ready for take-off in North Camp

The sky's the limit for groups taking part in the North Camp Summer Fayre carnival procession this year, with the theme of the popular day set as 'Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines'.

This year's event, which promises to be a great family fun day, will be held on Saturday July 12 and celebrates 100 years of flight in Farnborough.

Groups and families are invited to take part in the walking procession dressed to suit the carnival theme. The best group entry will win a prize of £50 and the 'North Camp Best in Parade' trophy.

Organisers are keen for the whole community to be involved and also feel the event offers groups a great chance to reach a very local audience to promote their work.

Event organiser Sharon Lucas said: "This is the summer fair's seventh year and it promises to be a fantastic family day that brings together everyone in the North Camp community.

"We'd be delighted to hear from anyone, from the local or neighbouring areas, who would like to take part in the day. This could be group entries for the procession or local organisations that would like to come along and promote their activities - really it's a case of the more, the merrier."

The fun kicks off at midday with a colourful walking procession down Camp Road and along Queens Road into the recreation ground.

Once in the park, visitors can enjoy the side stalls, watch arena displays, have their face painted, bring a picnic and enjoy a good old-fashioned afternoon out.

The event is organised by the North Camp Matters Community Association in partnership with Rushmoor Borough Council and sponsored by the Aldershot News and Mail.

Anyone who would like to take part in the day or would like further information can contact Debbie Whitcombe on 01252 398793.
