New equipment for Farnborough playground
£50,000 worth of new play equipment will be installed by Rushmoor Borough Council at King George V Playground in Farnborough.
The extra funding has come from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and will be used to provide additional play equipment for children aged eight to 13. An additional £50,000 of funding has also been given towards a new playground in Aldershot Park.
The Council will be asking local young people, parents and community groups for their views on the plans and it is hoped that the work will be completed by March 2009.
The King George V Playground was completed in 2006 and is proving extremely popular with many children queuing up to use the equipment at busy times. The Council even recently extended the car park to cope with demand.
Councillor Diane Bedford, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Youth, said: "King George V is already a wonderful playground and the new equipment will provide hours of enjoyment for local children and encourage them to get active.
