Council seeks advice on TAG proposal
Rushmoor Borough Council has appointed specialist
consultants to advise it on the technical issues relating to TAG's
proposal to increase the number of flights at Farnborough Airport over
weekends and Bank Holidays.
TAG Aviation has applied for planning permission
to increase the number of movements at the Airport at weekends and
on Bank Holidays from 2,500 per year to 5,000 per year. The total
amount of movements a year would remain set at 28,000. A movement
is either a take-off or a landing. TAG has submitted an environmental
statement with its application, which looks at the potential impact
of the change, particularly with regard to aircraft noise.
Rushmoor has asked a company called Bureau Veritas
Consulting Ltd. based in Southampton to examine the statement, check
the methodology used and comment on its conclusions.
The Council has carried out a wide public consultation
exercise on the planning application, including sending out letters
to more than 8,000 residents in Rushmoor, Hart and Surrey Heath.
However, it is important to note that people do not
need to receive a letter in order to comment, and many have already
written in with their views.
Copies of the application are available for inspection
at the Council Offices, at Farnborough and Aldershot libraries, and
on the Council's website (please see link on right hand side of this
page). The closing date for comments to be received in writing is
Friday 18 November 2005. Comments can also be made on-line.
The Council will then take all comments into account
when its Development Control Committee makes a decision on the application.
