New affordable homes for Farnborough
39 new affordable homes will be built in Farnborough thanks to £720,000 of funding from Rushmoor Borough Council.
The money will help to build 29 new affordable homes at the Queensgate development near the Queen’s roundabout. This will include a mixture of three and four bedroom family houses for housing association tenants.
A further five new homes will be provided at 14 Church Circle in Farnborough. The property is currently used by the council as temporary accommodation and the building will now be transformed into five, one and two bedroom flats for short stays. One of these will also be suitable for residents with limited mobility.
In Ladywood Avenue in Farnborough, five new three bedroom family homes will be built, also for affordable rent through a housing association.
Qamer Yasin, Head of Housing at Rushmoor Borough Council said: “There is always a huge demand for new affordable housing in Rushmoor but even more so in the current economic climate. At any one time, we have around 3,000 people on our housing register and around 300 households are homed every year.”
Councillor Francis Williams, Cabinet Member for Health and Housing added: “Meeting the housing needs of our residents is a major priority for the Council. Rushmoor particularly needs more larger family homes and we are pleased that this development will include nearly 40, three and four bedroom properties”
The funding was agreed by the council’s Cabinet last week.
