Residents asked their views on North Camp regeneration plans

Rushmoor Borough Council is asking residents for their views on the future regeneration of North Camp.

The Council has produced a draft strategy for how North Camp should continue to develop up to 2007. The strategy reflects and builds on the principles originally agreed by the local community and key stakeholders. It updates an original plan of action, which was published in 2002, taking on board new opportunities and issues for the area.

The strategy sets a vision for North Camp as a 'a vibrant retail and residential neighbourhood providing a high quality environment where people can live, work and spend their leisure time'. It puts forward projects to achieve this by improving North Camp's positive characteristics and by developing community involvement and ownership in the area.

Some 3000 homes in the North Camp area will receive a copy of the North Camp Regeneration Newsletter, which sets out a summary of the strategy, and a questionnaire that asks people for their views on the project. Residents can see full copies of the strategy at the Council Offices in Farnborough and Aldershot; Bransons Tobacconists in Camp Road, North Camp; Aldershot library; The Hive Information Centre (in the Connaught Community Centre), Redvers Buller Road, Aldershot; and on-line,lease see the link to the right of this page.

Anyone who would like to comment is asked to do so by Thursday March 31st 2005. If they can not meet this deadline but still want to comment, they can contact Debbie Whitcombe, North Camp Regeneration Officer, on 01252 398793, or by email at dwhitcombe@rushmoor.gov.uk.

Councillor Peter Moyle, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: "The shopping centre of North Camp provides a natural focus for regeneration and continues to be the driving force for change. In addition to the development of a vibrant economic centre, the strategy aims to bring about improvements to the local environment, to build a strong sense of community and to improve local pedestrian and transport routes. I hope that North Camp residents and businesses will find time to read the strategy and ensure they have a say in the future of the area by returning a response form."
