Inspector heaps praise on school
GOLD
stars have been handed out to staff and children at South Farnborough
Infant School following a glowing report from the latest Ofsted
inspection.
The
inspector, who visited the school this month, heaped praise on
the whole team at the Queens Road school.
She
said: “Three words sum up my observations – continuity,
progression, competency. The whole school is the epitome of how
children should enjoy learning.”
She
added: “It was so lovely to come to a school which is exciting,
dynamic and which takes excellence and enjoyment seriously.
“The
provision is outstanding, there is consistently good progress made
and adroit use of assessment.”
The
inspector went on to praise the school’s leaders.
She
said: “Leadership is collegiate; trusting; and doesn’t
rock to the tune of the latest initiative until a full and considered
assessment has been made.
“It
has courage in the conviction that young children need very special
and specific provision. It is keen to listen and build team spirit.
It often nurtures and equally often participates. It is ego free.”
Headteacher
Helen Fletcher Davies said: “Everyone pulls together. We
have a very good team who are happy and work hard.
“We
don’t have one individual who looks after a subject but a
team. They are always assessing what needs to be done and making
improvements and I think these things mean it is a team effort.
Things are not done to them but with everyone.”
She
added: “I am delighted the school has been recognised. I
know that we are a good school. I have got faith in that and the
teachers and that is why we go from strength to strength.
“That
is in no small part due to the whole school team, the children
and parents as well. But is very nice to have this external accolade
as well because that is the benchmark by which we are judged.”
