Pick up a penguin at the Green and Global Fun Day!
Preparations are well underway for this year’s
Green and Global Fun Day on Sunday 1 October at Aldershot’s
Princes Hall from 11.00am until 4.30pm.
The annual free event is organised by Rushmoor Borough
Council and brings together community groups, charities, musicians,
dancers and special guests for a day of family fun.
This year’s theme is climate change and there
will be a variety of themed activities to enjoy throughout the
day. Former BBC weather presenter, Bill Giles will be presenting ‘The
Weather Show’. Shuffles Dance studio (pictured) will also
be giving a specially choreographed performance dressed as penguins
to accompany the climate change theme – it’s set to
be a very chilly performance!
Back again after their hilarious performance last
year is MOMO Theatre. The duo will be performing funny lectures
and magic tricks in a Laurel and Hardy style – complete with
bowler hats!
Event Co-ordinator, Les Murrell from Rushmoor Borough
Council said: “We have another action packed Green and Global
Fun Day this year with live music, interactive workshops, craft,
dance, environmental information and green advice.”
He added: “This year, we are also very privileged
to have Dr Femi Oduneye founder of the charity, HealthyAfrica visiting
the Green and Global Fun Day. Femi will be giving a presentation
at 12noon about the charity’s work in Nigeria to improve
health care and raise awareness of health issues. We have also
decided to donate the money raised from our Fairtrade café to
support this good cause.”
